The gentle one in the MFC range

MFC® Green is Cafetto's mildest milk frother cleaner: biodegradable detergents, with natural acids doing the lifting. Being gentler than the rest of the MFC range is the whole idea — it is made to be reached for more often, as part of the daily routine rather than as an occasional heavy clean, and it is safe on every part of the machine it passes through.

What it does

Two jobs in one pass. It breaks down the milk fat that coats the inside of a frothing line and dries onto the frother head, and it descales the automatic milk system at the same time. Once it is rinsed through it leaves nothing behind that you can smell, which is the part that matters when the next drink out of that line is a cappuccino.

Using it

Run it through your machine's milk-cleaning programme, or soak the frother parts in it. Cafetto's dose is 50 ml in 1 litre of warm water; for the steam wand, 50 ml in 500 ml of warm water with a 5-minute soak. Check your machine's manual as well. Milk residue sets hard as soon as it dries, so a short clean at the end of every day of use does more good than a thorough one now and then. Flush the lines with fresh water afterwards.
