Buy Unroasted Coffee Beans
There are plenty of reasons why getting unroasted coffee beans is a grand idea. One of the perks of unroasted coffee beans is the chance to have a go at different roasting methods and flavours at home. By taking control of the roasting yourself, you can tweak the taste of the coffee to suit your own liking.
Additionally, unroasted coffee beans have a longer shelf life compared to roasted ones. The roasting process causes the oils in the beans to come out, which shortens their lifespan. Hence, you can keep unroasted beans for longer and won't need to pop out for new ones as often. Isn't that just grand!
Deliciously Fresh Coffee
You can roast unroasted coffee beans yourself to whip up a fresh and flavourful cup of coffee. Roasting at home has its benefits too. When you buy pre-roasted coffee from the shops, it has spent quite a bit of time getting from the farms in the southern hemisphere to our local shelves.
Moreover, roasted coffee beans are more prone to mould and bacteria. This doesn't do the quality any favours, often giving the coffee a sour or bitter taste. It’s a shame really, and there's no need for it. The answer is to do your own roasting, which lets you maintain the taste and quality just how you like it. Roasting coffee is straightforward enough and gives you the finest aromatic coffee you could hope for.
Drinking Unroasted Coffee
Of course, roasting isn't a must. You can enjoy a cup of unroasted coffee as is. It’s not only really tasty but also good for the heart. The flavour of unroasted coffee beans is different from roasted ones—slightly sweet and a bit stronger. The colour is also different, lighter with a dark green hue. This unroasted option is quite the energy booster and is celebrated as a health drink. Many athletes down a cup of green coffee before getting active, for that extra pep. Since they’re not roasted, these beans have more caffeine than their roasted counterparts, giving you an extra jolt of energy. Plus, this unroasted coffee can help you shed a few pounds!
Unroasted Beans
Unroasted coffee beans, often called green coffee beans, are simply the unroasted form of the coffee bean. They boast a different taste from roasted beans and are famed for their health perks. Unroasted coffee beans pack more antioxidants than roasted beans and come with a higher caffeine punch, boosting your energy levels.
At Café du Jour, you can browse through a range of unroasted coffee beans, including selections from Ethiopia. We've got a mix of beans on offer, from Arabica to Robusta. You can pick up the beans and do the roasting yourself, or opt for ground unroasted coffee. Café du Jour also lets you buy green coffee in varying amounts.
The roasting process is key to shaping the flavour and aroma of coffee. Roasting gives the beans their distinct taste and colour. But if you're into the pure taste of coffee, giving unroasted beans a try is worth it. Just remember to store the beans properly and drink them within the specified period on the packaging to get the best out of them.
At Café du Jour, we’re proud of our wide variety of coffee products. Besides unroasted and roasted coffee beans, we’ve got other coffee delights like espresso and cappuccino. Whether you love a good coffee or fancy a cup now and then, there's something for you at Café du Jour.
How Long Can You Store Unroasted Coffee Beans?
You can keep unroasted coffee beans for quite some time if stored properly. Keep in mind that coffee beans have an expiry date, and their flavour and aroma diminish over time. Generally, unroasted beans can be kept for up to 6 months, and some say even up to 12 months if stored well.
To preserve your unroasted beans the best, store them in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and dark spot, away from any moisture, heat, and light. Avoid grinding the beans until you’re ready to brew, as ground coffee loses its freshness faster than whole beans.
If you notice the beans losing their flavour and aroma, it’s likely time to get a new batch.
