What is a coffee sample pack?

A sample pack is a set of different coffees in one order. Every pack in this category contains full-size bags or packs of 250 g, 330 g or 1 kg, not small tasters. Brewing two or three coffees one after the other on your own machine is the quickest way to find out what you like, and whether you prefer a mild, fruity coffee or a full-bodied, dark one.

Our fresh coffee comes in resealable bags with a valve on the front. The valve lets gas escape from the freshly roasted beans without letting outside air in, and the closure lets you seal the bag again after use.

The illy packs come in 250 g. The Espresso Tasting Pack (2 x 250 g) and the Espresso Tasting Pack with Decaf (3 x 250 g) are available as beans or ground; the Arabica Tasting Pack (4 x 250 g) comes as beans. No grinder? Choose a ground version for an espresso machine with a portafilter or a moka pot.

A coffee tasting at home

Change one thing at a time. Brew each coffee the same way, with the same dose and the same grinder setting, so the difference you taste comes from the beans. With a bean-to-cup machine, run the hopper nearly empty before you switch: the first cup or two after a change still contains some of the previous coffee. Make a note of what you liked about each one; it makes the next order much easier.

As a gift
