Freshly roasted coffee beans daily
Fresh coffee
Café du Jour fresh coffee beans are the creation of two brothers who turned their coffee passion into their career. With years of experience in the Italian hospitality industry, they began a journey in 2015, experimenting tirelessly with coffee beans and espresso machines to perfect the ideal cup of coffee. Initially without any business plans, their love for sharing coffee with mates and family grew so much that they decided to make this pastime their profession.
Café du Jour fresh coffee beans are roasted daily in small batches, then tasted and judged by the master roaster. Once given the thumbs up, these freshly roasted beans are checked and sorted for any imperfections, then packaged, sealed and marked with the roast date of that day. With Café du Jour fresh coffee beans, you can always be sure of receiving a fresh bag of roasted coffee: never older than four weeks when it lands at your door. It's just like enjoying fresh bread from the local baker: much tastier than the mass-produced stuff, wouldn't you say?

How to make the right choice?
Anyone who has ever enjoyed an espresso brewed with fresh beans knows that nothing compares to the experience. Some (luxury) brands might sit in the warehouse for weeks or even months waiting for a buyer. Of course, that's perfectly normal as coffee typically has a shelf life of about a year. Still, fresh coffee beans are at their finest in the weeks following roasting. Fresh beans can be enjoyed as early as two days post-roasting. Since gases escape from the beans after roasting, grinding and using the coffee a week later is ideal. Café du Jour's coffee beans are incredibly fresh, with roasting done at lower temperatures for a more gradual process. This method allows the folks at Café du Jour to achieve a beautifully even roast. Depending on the bean and desired roast, the temperature ranges between 180 and 220 degrees. The flavour of the beans from our roastery is simply sensational. If you place your order before 3pm, you can trust that your fresh beans will be shipped out the same day and won’t be more than four weeks old.
Fresh coffee beans
We often get asked if the coffee is too old if the roast date was, say, three weeks ago. To briefly answer this: no, after a few weeks, the coffee is at its peak! This is because freshly roasted coffee is full of carbon dioxide (CO2), which forms during roasting and can initially mute the flavour. Depending on the bean and roast, coffee is at its best between one to four weeks after roasting. The beans are promptly stored in special coffee bags right after being roasted.
Buy freshly roasted coffee beans
We have a wide selection available, including popular coffee blends, coffees from various origins, single-origin and decaffeinated options, all available in small packs or bulk. You can use these specially roasted premium beans to enjoy fresh coffee at home or in the office. Remember, your coffee only tastes as good as the beans you use. Simply put: good fresh strong beans make for good coffee. High-quality fresh coffee is especially crucial if you rely on more than one cup to get through your day. Everything coffee enthusiasts love about a good brew, like its personal flavour and aroma, begins with a roasting process that starts from a long journey with renowned coffee producers globally. Once picked, raw green beans contain the flavours that develop into the unique aromas and tastes we enjoy. Our roasting process brings out flavours like chocolate, caramel, floral or fruity notes for a real taste explosion.
The coffee beans undergo extreme heat in the roaster, where the green bean's intricate composition of minerals - including carbohydrates, amino acids, proteins, lipids, water and caffeine - combines through chemical reactions, producing that iconic nutty and irresistible aroma and taste of coffee. They are then properly packaged to minimise air exposure, ensuring the flavours remain intact until they reach you. We ensure our beans are brewed as soon as possible after roasting. You’ll have your friends turning green with envy over your delicious espressos and other brews!
The degassing process of freshly roasted coffee beans
We’re frequently asked if roasted beans are too old when the roasting date is three weeks past, for instance. The quick answer is no; they are at their best after a few weeks. The reason is that freshly roasted beans are packed with carbon dioxide (CO2). This gas forms during roasting and can initially dull the coffee's flavour. Depending on the bean and roast, coffee peaks between one to four weeks. The beans are immediately packed in special bags after roasting. Our bags have a valve allowing gas to escape without letting aromas dissipate faster. This valve also prevents oxygen from entering the bag.
Buying and storing fresh coffee beans: what should you keep in mind?
Freshly roasted beans can easily lose their freshness, so proper storage is key. Consider certain factors when you bring coffee into your home. Store your treasured purchase in a dry spot to avoid dampness exposure. Keep the packaging sealed tightly to protect it from air, perhaps using an airtight tin. Our special packaging comes with a valve to release carbon dioxide while keeping air out, preserving the beans' freshness. However, they aren’t meant for long-term storage, so don't leave them around too long. For the best flavour preservation, store the coffee in a dark, cool area. Our delicious coffees are chosen for their quality and character. Each batch is carefully hand-roasted and shipped daily around Ireland. We roast and deliver fresh, delicious, and unique coffee just for you.
Coffee of the best quality
At Café du Jour, we offer a fine selection of beans with delightful flavours. To meet market demand, we source coffee from across the globe. There’s a variety to choose from, including specially developed blends, premium coffee, single-origin, ground coffee or coffee beans, and decaffeinated options. These are perfect for making espresso, cappuccino, or filter coffee. They are freshly roasted, packaged, and shipped with a passion unmatched. With years of expertise in roasting, you can rest easy knowing each cup will bring a smile, even on a groggy morning! We suggest buying coffee in the form of fresh beans, grinding them at home or at work to enjoy the finest brew. The beans are delivered fresh. It’s best to grind only what you need at the time, ensuring the grind doesn’t oxidise, keeping the flavour pristine and delicious! What’s more, you’ll always relish your preferred coffee as you get to choose your favourite fresh beans, rather than a standard mix of various beans in your cuppa.
