When you think of Kenya, you might picture wildlife and enchanting landscapes rather than coffee. But did you know that this country has been producing top-quality coffee since the early 20th century? Kenya enchants not only with its impressive nature but also with its exquisite coffee beans.

This coffee thrives in high altitudes and fertile soil with plenty of rain as well as sunshine all year round. It’s the perfect recipe for a grand cup of Kenyan coffee.

The result is a fruity and full-bodied symphony, with hints of berries. We’ve roasted it just a shade more than medium, allowing the natural sugars to shine and balance with the acidity of this coffee.

FAQ
Customer Questions
Hello, What are the coffee beans types used in Kenya 100% arabica - Fresh coffee beans. Could you please specify? Regards, Nelli
The quality used is AA FAQ.
What is the roast date?
The roast date of Café du Jour's coffee beans is usually a maximum of four weeks before dispatch. This means that the coffee beans are generally no older than four weeks when they arrive at your door. Many people ask if coffee beans are already too old after three weeks. The answer to that is: no. Freshly roasted coffee actually reaches its best flavour after a few weeks. During roasting, carbon dioxide (CO₂) is created inside the coffee beans, which can mask the taste at first. That is why coffee is at its best between one and four weeks after roasting. After roasting, the beans are immediately packed in special coffee bags with a one-way valve. This valve allows CO₂ to escape without letting oxygen in, so the aromas are preserved and the coffee remains fresh. This way, you can count on an optimally fresh product with a full flavour!
Which flavour notes can I expect from these Kenya 100% arabica coffee beans?
These Kenyan coffee beans are characterised by a lively and fruity character, with distinct notes of berries, blackcurrant, and grapefruit. We have roasted the beans just slightly beyond medium so that the natural sugars are beautifully balanced with the characteristic bright acidity of Kenyan coffee.
What makes these Kenyan coffee beans special compared to other coffee varieties?
These beans come from high, fertile grounds in Kenya and contain coffee varieties such as SL28 and SL34, which are known for their high quality and distinctive flavour profile. Thanks to the combination of climate, soil, and the artisanal roasting process, you will taste a full, fruity symphony that is characteristic of top quality from Kenya.
In what kind of packaging are these coffee beans delivered and how does the coffee stay fresh?
Our Kenya coffee beans are always delivered in a resealable coffee bag with a special valve. This allows air to escape, but not enter, which significantly extends the freshness. Thanks to the airtight seal, your coffee remains full of aroma down to the very last bean.
Are these coffee beans suitable for fully automatic machines and espresso machines?
Absolutely, these Kenya 100% arabica coffee beans are suitable for all brewing methods that use whole beans, such as fully automatic machines, semi-automatic machines, and espresso machines. The fruity notes are beautifully expressed in both espresso and longer coffee variants.
