Hausbrandt: coffee from Trieste

Hausbrandt's roots go back to Trieste in 1892, when Hermann Hausbrandt started a coffee roasting business in the city. Trieste is one of Europe's major coffee ports and has a strong café culture of its own. Hausbrandt grew from there into an Italian coffee brand sold well beyond Trieste.

What Hausbrandt coffee tastes like

Hausbrandt stands in the Italian coffee tradition. The house style has notes of dried fruit, citrus and chocolate, with a balance between sweetness and a light tang. Those notes come through most clearly in a straight espresso; in a cappuccino or latte the milk softens the tang and leaves the chocolate side.

The Hausbrandt coffee beans in our range

We stock four Hausbrandt coffees, all as whole beans in a 1 kg bag:

Which machine suits Hausbrandt beans?

Because these are whole beans, you need a grinder. They work well in a bean-to-cup machine, which grinds the beans for every cup, and in an espresso machine with a portafilter if you grind them fresh with a separate coffee grinder. Grind fine for espresso, a little coarser for a moka pot, and coarse for a cafetière.

Only in 1 kg bags

Hausbrandt comes in 1 kg bags only. That makes sense if you drink several cups a day, share a machine at home or run one in a small office. If you get through less, a smaller pack from our coffee beans range is easier to finish while it is at its best.
