Which Swisso is right for you?

Swisso Crema and Swisso Espresso differ in roast and strength; the instant cappuccinos share one base and differ in flavour.

Swisso Crema: mild crema coffee beans

Swisso Crema is a 100% Arabica blend from several African countries, medium roasted in Germany. On our strength scale it is 6 out of 13, and Swisso gives it an intensity of 3 out of 5. The flavour is mild and balanced, the aroma gentle, and the crema velvety. Swisso suggests Crema for coffee with milk, such as a latte, though it is equally good black as a longer caffè crema.

Swisso Espresso: dark-roasted espresso beans

Swisso Espresso is a 100% Arabica blend from several African countries too, but dark roasted: 10 out of 13 on our strength scale and 4 out of 5 on Swisso's own. It has a strong flavour and a pronounced aroma. Swisso intends these espresso beans for a strong, dark espresso, and they work with milk in a cappuccino or latte too.

Swisso instant cappuccino and Drinking Chocolate

Swisso instant cappuccino is a mix of instant coffee, creamer and sugar that becomes a frothy cappuccino once you add hot water. Cappuccino White is the unflavoured one: mild, milky and slightly sweet. Caramel, Hazelnut and Vanilla are the flavoured versions. Swisso Drinking Chocolate is a sweet instant hot chocolate with no coffee. A 1 kg bag of any of them makes around 80 cups.

How to make Swisso instant cappuccino

Swisso instant cappuccino takes about 7 teaspoons of powder in a cup, topped up with 150 to 200 ml of water at around 80 °C, then a good stir. The water should be hot rather than boiling, so let the kettle cool for a few minutes after it boils. No milk or coffee machine is needed. Swisso Drinking Chocolate is made the same way, or with warm milk in place of the water.

Grinding and brewing Swisso coffee beans

Swisso Crema and Swisso Espresso come as whole beans, so grind them fresh for each brew. Swisso recommends a bean-to-cup machine or a moka pot, and both blends also work in an espresso machine with a separate grinder. Frequently asked questions about Swisso Kaffee
What is Swisso Kaffee and who makes it?

Swisso Kaffee is a German brand: the trademark belongs to SWISSO GmbH in Berlin and the products are made in Germany. The name may sound Swiss, but the brand isn't. At Café du Jour you'll find its Crema and Espresso coffee beans in 1 kg bags, its instant cappuccino in White, Caramel, Hazelnut and Vanilla, and its Drinking Chocolate.

How do you make Swisso instant cappuccino?

Add about 7 teaspoons of Swisso instant cappuccino to a cup, pour in 150 to 200 ml of hot, not boiling, water (around 80 °C) and stir well. That's all: milk and a coffee machine aren't needed, since the powder already holds instant coffee, creamer and sugar. The method is the same for White, Caramel, Hazelnut, Vanilla and the Drinking Chocolate, and each 1 kg bag gives around 80 cups.

Which Swisso coffee beans should I use for espresso or a bean-to-cup machine?

Use Swisso Espresso if you like a strong espresso: 100% Arabica and dark roasted, rated 10 out of 13 by us and 4 out of 5 by Swisso. If you drink mostly milky coffee or prefer it milder, go for Swisso Crema, a medium roast at 6 out of 13 (Swisso: 3 out of 5). Both are sold as whole beans in 1 kg bags and work in bean-to-cup and espresso machines as well as in a moka pot.
