Cerrado 100% Arabica - Fresh coffee beans

A Brazilian coffee from the Cerrado plateau, slowly roasted by Café du Jour to a medium roast. It is a sweet, smooth cup: a touch of fruit, a note of honey and a nutty aroma behind it, with very little bite. Mild enough to drink black without sugar, and easy-going enough to suit whatever machine you already have on the counter. 100% Arabica, whole beans.
Brazilian coffee beans from the Cerrado
The Arabica for this coffee is grown on the Cerrado plateau in Brazil. Café du Jour roasts it slowly to a medium roast, which keeps the sweetness in the bean and stops it tipping over into smoke and bitterness.
In the cup
Sweet and smooth, with a hint of fruit, a note of honey and a nutty aroma running underneath. At 5 out of 13 on our strength scale it sits at the gentle end, and there is no sharp edge anywhere in it — which is exactly why it works black. A plain mug of it, no milk and no sugar, is where this bean shows what it can do. Put it in a flat white and the honey and nuts largely disappear behind the milk.
Making it
These are whole beans, so you will want a grinder or a bean-to-cup machine. It takes to most methods — filter, cafetière, or espresso if you like a shot that is softer than a dark Italian roast — but filter and cafetière give the honey and nut notes the most room to show themselves.
