One origin from the illy blend

The illy blend is built from Arabica grown in several countries. The Arabica Selection takes those origins one at a time, so you can taste what each country brings to the cup. This is the Nicaragua: 250 g of whole beans, 100% Arabica from a single country, roasted and packed by illy in Italy.

What it tastes like

illy describes the aroma as soft and enveloping, with the nutty notes typical of Nicaraguan coffee, and has given this origin its own roasting profile to bring them out. In the cup there is dried fruit, toasted bread and dark chocolate: a full-bodied, distinctive coffee that still stays balanced. It rates 7 out of 13 on our scale (illy intensity 6/9), so it has enough body to stand up as an espresso.

How to brew it

illy recommends it in particular for the moka pot and filter coffee, and it works just as well through an espresso machine or a bean-to-cup machine. As these are whole beans, you need a grinder: fine for espresso, a little coarser for the moka pot and coarser again for filter.
