What it is for

Forte, as the name suggests, is made for a powerful espresso. That same intensity makes it a good base for other coffee drinks, where a milder blend can get lost. At 9 out of 13 on our strength scale it sits at the stronger end, so it suits you if you like your coffee with some weight behind it.

The medium-dark roast gives it depth without taking the beans all the way to a dark roast, so the chocolate hints stay noticeable even in a short cup. If a straight espresso is too intense for you, use it as the base for a longer drink instead.

Why beans

The coffee comes as whole beans, so you grind just what you need for each cup. The 1 kg pack makes sense if espresso is part of your daily routine.

For espresso, grind the beans fine and brew straight away: freshly ground coffee keeps more of its aroma than coffee that has been left standing. Close the pack well after each use so the rest of the beans stay fresh until you need them.
