Drip coffee without the kit

This is a single portion of ground coffee sitting in its own paper filter, which hooks onto the rim of a mug. Pour hot water through it, let it drain, lift the bag out, and you have a cup of drip coffee: no machine to set up, no filter holder to find and nothing left to rinse out. It earns its place at a desk, on a campsite, on a picnic, in a hotel room and at home on the mornings when setting up a brewer is more trouble than it is worth.

The coffee in the bag

The beans are 100% Arabica, picked in South America and East Africa and roasted in small batches in our own roastery. It is a medium roast, which is where the chocolate, nut and dried-fruit notes sit, and the cup holds its shape black or with a splash of milk.

Decaffeinated with CO2

The caffeine is taken out using the natural CO2 method, without chemical solvents. That matters for the taste as much as anything else: what you get is a decaf that still reads as the same coffee you would drink in the morning, rather than a thin version of it.

How to brew it

Hang the bag on the mug, pour a little hot water to wet the grounds, then top up in stages and let it run through. Lift the bag out and bin it.
