illy Classico, ready ground for espresso

illy Classico is the medium roast of illy's 100% Arabica blend, and this 250 g tin holds it ready ground. illy grinds it for espresso, so it goes straight into the portafilter without a grinder of your own. The blend draws on Arabica from Ethiopia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil and India, and it is roasted and packed in Italy.

Flavour

Classico is the rounded side of illy. In illy's own tasting notes you will find caramel, orange blossom and jasmine, finishing on a sweet aftertaste. Balanced rather than punchy, it rates 7 out of 13 on our scale (illy intensity 5/9), and it works as a straight espresso or under milk in a cappuccino.

Which machines it suits

The grind is set for espresso machines, and it also works in a moka pot. For a filter machine, pour-over or cafetière it is too fine. If that is how you brew, look through our other ground coffee for a coarser grind, or choose illy Classico in whole beans and grind it to suit.
