Kimbo Espresso Bar Extra Cream - coffee beans - 6 x 1 kg

Value box with 6 × Kimbo Espresso Bar Extra Cream (coffee beans, 1 kg).
Kimbo Espresso Bar Extra Cream is a Neapolitan blend of Arabica with around 30% Robusta, dark roasted and sold as whole beans in a 1 kg bag. The Robusta is what builds the thick crema and the full body; the Arabica alongside it keeps aroma and a little sweetness in the cup. Chocolate and nuts come through in the flavour, and the blend is steady enough for a bean-to-cup machine.

Naples in a 1 kg bag
Kimbo roasts this blend in Naples and it tastes like it: dark roast, firm body and the thick crema that gives the coffee its name. Around 30% of the blend is Robusta, which is where that body and crema come from; the Arabica alongside it supplies the aroma and a gentle sweetness that keeps the cup from turning flat.
The flavour runs to chocolate with a nutty edge and stays in place from the first sip through the finish. At 10 out of 13 this is a strong coffee, and the depth comes from the dark roast and the Robusta share rather than from acidity.
Machines and drinks
Extra Cream is tuned for a bean-to-cup machine: the flow stays steady and the result holds up cup after cup, which is what a 1 kg bag is really for in a busy house or an office. It pulls a serious espresso, and because the body is heavy it does not vanish under milk, so a cappuccino keeps its coffee flavour. Brewed as filter coffee it makes a dark, full cup rather than a delicate one.
