De'Longhi descaler for coffee machines
Looking for a De'Longhi descaler? Most De'Longhi coffee machines have a descaling programme that tells you when it is time. Here you will find descalers to use with it: a universal liquid descaler in a 500 ml bottle for four cycles, descaling powder in sachets and Café du Jour descaling tablets. Your manual gives the dose and the steps for your model.

What is in this category
- Bottle Descaler 500 ml: universal liquid descaler, enough for four descaling cycles
- Bag of descaling powder: universal, one sachet for one cycle
- Café du Jour Descaler, 1 x 50 g: descaling powder for one cycle
- Café du Jour Descaler, 4x50 g: descaling powder for four cycles
- Café du Jour Descaling tablets, 6 pieces
Liquid, powder or tablets?
A liquid descaler is easy to measure out and mixes straight into the water tank. Powder in sachets is dosed for you: one sachet, one cycle, with nothing left over. Tablets dissolve in the water. Whichever format you choose, the important thing is to descale when the machine asks for it.
Which De'Longhi models?
De'Longhi builds bean-to-cup machines such as the Magnifica S, Dinamica, Eletta and PrimaDonna ranges, and portafilter machines such as the Dedica for espresso. The descaling programme differs from one model to the next, so always check the manual for your machine. Some manufacturers, De'Longhi among them, also say which type of descaler they recommend; it is worth checking that before your first cycle.
How do you descale a De'Longhi coffee machine?
- Empty the water tank and remove the water filter if one is fitted.
- Fill the tank with water and add the descaler, using the amounts given on the pack and in your manual.
- Start descaling mode via the display or the buttons.
- Place a large container under the spout: the machine discharges liquid several times.
- When the solution has run through, rinse the tank and fill it with clean water.
- Run the rinse cycle as the machine prompts.
- Refit the water filter, or fit a new one.
The whole process takes around 20 to 30 minutes. Follow the instructions on the display carefully.
How often?
Most De'Longhi machines let you know when descaling is due. How often that is depends on the hardness of your water and on how much coffee you make: in hard water areas you will descale more often, and with a water filter the interval usually gets longer.
Water filters and other maintenance
A water filter in the tank catches part of the limescale before it reaches the machine. You will find them among our water filters and coffee accessories.
