FAQ
Customer Questions
Which coffee is best to use in the Hario Mizudashi cold brew pot?

Our customer service recommends 100% arabica coffee for cold brew in the Hario Mizudashi. If you like a stronger cup, choose a dark roasted arabica that is sweet and nutty and not too bitter, for example a dark roast from Brazil. If you find the result too flat, let the coffee steep a little longer or use a slightly higher dose.

Which grind size do I need for the Hario Mizudashi cold brew pot?

For the Hario Mizudashi we recommend a coarse grind, comparable to a French press or Chemex grind. With too fine a grind the coffee passes through the permanent filter with difficulty and the taste quickly turns bitter. If you order the coffee from us, we will grind the beans to the right grind size for you on request.

How much coffee and water do I use in the Hario Mizudashi cold brew pot?

For about 600 ml of cold brew, slowly pour 650 ml of cold water in a circular motion over 50 grams of coffee. Then put the lid on the pot and shake gently. Next, let the pot steep in the fridge for 8 to 12 hours. Serve the coffee with ice or with a small splash of milk.

How much does the Hario Mizudashi Red hold and what is it made of?

This Hario Mizudashi in red has a capacity of 600 ml. The carafe is made of heat and cold resistant glass and has a permanent filter, so you do not need paper filters. The pot is about 10 cm wide, 10 cm deep and 25 cm high. Hario is a Japanese brand that has existed since 1921 and is known for its heat resistant glass.

Can I also brew tea with the Hario Mizudashi?

Yes, the Hario Mizudashi is also well suited to brewing loose leaf tea. The permanent filter holds back the tea leaves, so you can pour the tea straight out. If you want to make cold tea, allow around 4 to 12 hours in the fridge, depending on the type of tea and how strong you want it.
