ABOCFA is a unique cocoa co-op in Ghana, boasting both organic and fair trade certification. The co-op has 1063 members (789 men and 274 women) working together on 1514 hectares of land. The co-op's headquarters, employing 23 people, is located in the Aponoapono enclave in the Suhum area in eastern Ghana.
ABOCFA's mission is to give farmers access to productivity and management skills to better their livelihoods. In addition, the co-op aims to boost cocoa farmers' income through premiums for organic and fair trade goods. The main goal is to become self-sufficient, cut down on poverty, and provide a livable income for all its members. Special attention is paid to protecting children and ensuring educational opportunities, with a dedicated team focused on combating child labour. Plus, all members of the co-op can avail themselves of health insurance, which contributes to their well-being.
