Starry Night - green tea 100 g - Café du Jour loose tea

A blend you can pick apart by eye
Starry Night is a flavoured green tea, and most of what goes into it stays visible in the dry leaf: yellow rosebuds, cornflower blossoms, ginkgo and cut lemongrass, scattered through the green leaf. It is named after the Van Gogh painting, and it is put together to look the part in the caddy as much as to taste of something.
Vanilla and citrus lead
The flavouring is vanilla and citrus. In the cup that reads as subtly sweet with a fresh lift: the vanilla rounds the green tea off, the citrus stops it turning heavy. The flowers and the lemongrass sit behind those two as a lighter floral and herbal layer.
Water temperature and timing
Use 2 g of leaf per 200 ml cup, water at around 80 °C, and two to three minutes in the pot. That is long enough to bring the vanilla and citrus through without drawing bitterness out of the green leaf, which water straight off the boil will do. Being loose-leaf tea, the dose is yours to adjust from there.
