A floral rooibos blend

Sunrise Flower is a loose rooibos tea blended with rose petals, lavender, linden blossom, chamomile and cornflower. The rooibos gives it the body, the soft and slightly sweet red-brown character rooibos always has, and the flowers sit on top of that. The cup comes out gentle and floral rather than sharp, which is why it works at times of day when a strong tea would be too much.

No caffeine, by nature

Rooibos is not tea from the tea plant at all but a South African shrub, and it carries no caffeine of its own; nothing has been removed to make it that way. That is what makes this herbal tea an evening cup as easily as a morning one, and why it suits anyone cutting down on caffeine who still wants a hot drink with some flavour to it.

Brewing it

This is a loose tea, so you need a pot with a filter, an infuser or a strainer. Use a heaped teaspoon per cup and water straight off the boil. Rooibos has little of the tannin that turns green and black tea bitter, so it does not punish you for leaving it: five minutes or more is fine if you want it stronger, and a pot can stand while you drink your way through it. Take it plain, or with a little milk.
