These tongs have holes instead of a fine sieve and are therefore mainly suitable for slightly coarser types of loose tea, such as blends with whole leaves or coarse herbs. Finely broken leaves and tea dust can escape through the holes and end up in your cup. If you mainly drink fine tea, choose a mesh tea filter instead.

These oval tongs of 50 mm are intended for one cup of tea. Allow for about 2 grams, roughly a level teaspoon. Do not fill them to the brim, because wet tea leaves expand and need room to release their flavour. For a whole pot of tea it is better to use a larger tea filter.

Squeeze the tongs open, fill one half with loose tea and let them snap shut again. Before you hang them in the water, check that both halves close completely against each other, because tongs left slightly ajar will let leaves escape. Do not overfill them either, because then they automatically close less well.

Yes, these stainless steel tea tongs are dishwasher safe. Knock out the wet tea leaves first and rinse the tongs briefly, so no residue is left behind in the holes. Rinsing them by hand under warm water of course works perfectly well too.
