The classic illy roast, in whole beans

illy Classico coffee beans are the medium roast of illy's 100% Arabica blend, in a 250 g tin. The blend brings together Arabica from Ethiopia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil and India. illy Intenso is the same blend given a darker, bolder roast.

Flavour

illy's tasting notes for Classico are caramel, orange blossom and jasmine, with a sweet aftertaste and a smooth, velvety texture. On our scale it rates 7 out of 13; illy, on its own scale, gives it intensity 5/9. Expect a full, rounded cup with enough body to drink as a straight espresso and to carry milk in a cappuccino.

Brewing

illy recommends Classico for espresso, lungo, the moka pot and filter coffee. Because these are whole beans, you set the grinder for whichever of those you use, or pour them into the hopper of a bean-to-cup machine.
