illy Intenso is the dark roast of illy's 100% Arabica blend, here as whole coffee beans in a 250 g tin. It makes a bold cup with a pleasantly robust finish and warm notes of cocoa and dried fruit. Grind it fine for espresso and cappuccino, or coarser for a moka pot, filter coffee or a cafetière. If you bought illy's dark roast before: same coffee, new name and packaging.

These illy coffee beans are the Intenso roast: the same 100% Arabica blend as illy Classico, roasted darker for a bolder, fuller cup. illy describes it as a bold roast with a pleasantly robust finish and warm notes of cocoa and dried fruit. On our strength scale it scores 9 out of 13 (illy intensity 7/9).
Intenso is illy's dark roast under a new name. The coffee inside the tin is unchanged; only the name and packaging are new.
Which brewing methods?
Whole beans let you grind for the way you make coffee. illy recommends Intenso for espresso, lungo, the moka pot and filter coffee, and it also works well in a cappuccino. Grind fine for espresso, slightly coarser for a moka pot, medium for filter and coarse for a cafetière. In a bean-to-cup machine the beans go straight into the hopper.
