Joerges Heritage Blend is a medium-roast blend of Arabica and Robusta beans, sold whole in a 1 kg bag. The aroma is floral and soft; the cup that follows is light and harmonious, with subtle berry fruit and a nutty finish. On the Café du Jour scale it is a 5 out of 13 — a mild coffee, but a rounded one rather than a watery one.
Where the character comes from
A medium roast stops short of the dark, smoky end, so the beans keep more of their own aroma; that is where the floral note and the berry fruit survive. The Robusta is in the blend for body and crema, which gives the cup enough weight to carry milk in a cappuccino or a latte without the coffee thinning out. Drunk black it stays soft and low in bitterness, which is what makes it a coffee you keep going back to rather than one you brace yourself for.
