Joerges Heritage Blend is a medium-roast blend of Arabica and Robusta, sold as whole beans in a 1 kg bag. It is a gentle coffee: soft floral aromas first, then berries and nuts, with a light body and no bitter edge. Mild enough to sit with for an hour, and with enough Robusta behind it to take milk without the coffee disappearing into the cup.

A mild blend for drinking slowly

Joerges Heritage Blend is a medium-roast blend of Arabica and Robusta beans, sold whole in a 1 kg bag. The aroma is floral and soft; the cup that follows is light and harmonious, with subtle berry fruit and a nutty finish. On the Café du Jour scale it is a 5 out of 13 — a mild coffee, but a rounded one rather than a watery one.

Where the character comes from

A medium roast stops short of the dark, smoky end, so the beans keep more of their own aroma; that is where the floral note and the berry fruit survive. The Robusta is in the blend for body and crema, which gives the cup enough weight to carry milk in a cappuccino or a latte without the coffee thinning out. Drunk black it stays soft and low in bitterness, which is what makes it a coffee you keep going back to rather than one you brace yourself for.

FAQ
Customer Questions
What kind of coffee is the Joerges Heritage Melange and what does it taste like?

The Heritage Melange is a blend in the style of Viennese coffee culture, put together from Arabica and Robusta beans.

The medium roast brings out soft, floral aromas, complemented by subtle notes of berries and nuts. The flavour profile is mild, nutty, floral and lightly fruity: harmonious rather than heavy.

Is there robusta in the Joerges Heritage Melange and what difference does it make?

Yes, the Heritage Melange is a combination of Arabica and Robusta beans. The ratio is not specified by the manufacturer.

Robusta gives a coffee more body, a firmer crema and a spicy tone. Arabica brings the mildness and the aroma. In this blend, the combination strikes a balance between mildness and character.

Is the Joerges Heritage Melange suitable for a bean to cup machine and which grind do I need?

You receive 1 kilo of whole beans, so you can simply pour the Heritage Melange into the bean hopper of your bean to cup machine.

The medium roast keeps the bean from being noticeably oily, which is good for the grinder. If you use a different appliance, grind the beans yourself: espresso grind for an espresso machine, filter grind for a pour-over filter and percolator grind for the ground coffee chute of a Jura.

What is the difference between the Joerges Heritage Melange and the Heritage Espresso?

The Heritage Melange is medium roasted and combines Arabica and Robusta into a mild, nutty and slightly fruity coffee in Viennese style.

The Heritage Espresso is roasted more strongly and is based on premium Robusta beans, with notes of nuts and chocolate and a spicy, full body in Neapolitan style.

If you are looking for a coffee to drink throughout the day, the Melange suits you better. If you want an intense espresso as a base for cappuccino or latte macchiato, choose the Espresso.

How do you store the Joerges Heritage Melange coffee beans?

Store the beans cool, dark, dry and well sealed, for example in a closed kitchen cupboard.

The fridge is not a good place, because coffee attracts moisture and odours there. Unopened, coffee stays good for about a year, but we advise finishing the bag within three months for the best flavour.
