Segafredo Selezione 100% Arabica - coffee beans - 8 x 1 kg box discount

Segafredo Selezione is an Italian blend made entirely from Arabica, with no Robusta in it, and sold here as 1 kg of whole beans. The roast is light rather than the dark Italian roast you might expect from the name, and that is what keeps the fruit in the cup instead of bitterness.

How it tastes

Fruity and floral to start, chocolate through the middle, a nutty aftertaste that stays with you, and a smooth, velvety crema. At 6 out of 13 on our strength scale — Segafredo intensity 6/10 on the roaster's own scale — it sits squarely in the middle: enough presence to carry an espresso, mild enough to drink black all morning.

Grinding and brewing

Beans like these are worth grinding to order: fine for espresso, medium for a filter machine or a pour-over. They will do for cappuccino too, though a light roast this delicate gives up some of its fruit under a lot of milk — worth knowing before you buy a kilo for a milk-heavy household.
