A filter head with a fixed 30% bypass

The Brita Purity C filter head 1002952 sits between your water line and a Purity C Quell ST cartridge. Its bypass is fixed at 30%: that share of the water passes straight by the filter medium and is blended back into the filtered water. That leaves a set proportion of minerals in the water, which an espresso machine needs for flavour, while the rest of the flow is treated so that limescale does not build up. Because the setting is fixed, there is nothing to adjust and nothing to get wrong when you fit it.

What it fits

The head takes every cartridge size in the Brita Purity C Quell ST series, so you can move up or down in capacity without changing the head, and it also works with PURITY C Finest cartridges. It is used on coffee machines and vending machines.

Fitting and flushing

The G 3/8 inch thread is the usual size on professional coffee machines and water softeners, so the head screws onto existing pipework of the same thread. The flushing valve is built in: after a cartridge change you flush and vent the filter through it, without special tools and without breaking into the pipe run.
