FAQ
Customer Questions
Is the Hausbrandt Gourmet Colombus suitable for my bean to cup machine?

Yes. The Gourmet Colombus comes as whole beans in a 1 kilo bag and has a medium roast, so no blackened, oily bean. A bean to cup machine handles that nicely.

Customers regularly ask us which Hausbrandt suits their bean to cup machine. According to our product data this coffee is suitable for espresso, filter coffee and cappuccino.

Which beans are in the Hausbrandt Gourmet Colombus?

The Gourmet Colombus consists of 100 percent arabica beans from Colombia. So it contains no robusta, which makes the coffee milder and less bitter than a blend with robusta.

The beans are roasted in Italy, at Hausbrandt in Trieste, which has been roasting coffee there since 1892.

What does the Hausbrandt Gourmet Colombus taste like?

The Gourmet Colombus is balanced and smooth in character, with a mild cocoa like aroma and a very light citrus acidity. The roast is medium, so you taste the bean itself and not mainly the roast.

That makes it a coffee for any time of the day, also if you drink your coffee black and do not like sharp bitterness.

What is the difference between the Hausbrandt Gourmet Colombus and the Qualità Rossa?

The Gourmet Colombus is 100 percent arabica from Colombia and tastes smooth, balanced and slightly cocoa like. The Qualità Rossa is a blend of 70 percent arabica and 30 percent robusta, with more body, a firmer crema and a spicier character.

Both are medium roasted, are roasted in Italy and are supplied as whole beans in a 1 kilo bag. Because Hausbrandt has several blends that resemble each other, it pays to check the name on the bag.

How much Hausbrandt Gourmet Colombus do I use per cup and how do I store the beans?

For filter coffee count on about 5 to 8 grams per cup, for a double espresso about 16 to 20 grams. If the coffee tastes too sour, use a finer grind size or dose a little higher; if it is too bitter, use a slightly coarser grind size instead.

Store the 1 kilo bag cool, dark and well sealed and do not put it in the fridge. Preferably grind the beans only just before brewing.
