Tchibo whole bean coffee
What is Tchibo coffee?
Tchibo is a German coffee roaster with its roots in Hamburg. Beans are sourced from several growing regions and roasted in Germany, which is where the house style comes from. The range runs from mild to intense and covers whole beans, ground filter coffee, pads and capsules, so there is a Tchibo for a bean-to-cup machine, a filter machine and a pad machine alike.
Tchibo coffee is made from Arabica and Robusta beans and roasted in Germany. Which Tchibo suits you depends on two things: how strong you like your coffee, and the machine you make it with.
Tchibo coffee lines
Each line has its own flavour profile and strength:
- Tchibo Feine Milde – soft and mild, made from 100% Arabica, with very little bitterness
- Tchibo Caffè Crema – creamy and full-flavoured, made for a longer cup from an espresso or bean-to-cup machine; Caffè Crema Vollmundig is the fuller version
- Tchibo Espresso – powerful and aromatic with a solid crema; Espresso Sizilianer Art is an intense blend of Arabica and Robusta
- Tchibo Aromatico – a balanced blend with fruity notes
- Tchibo Barista Espresso – 100% Arabica with a strong, aromatic character, popular with home baristas
Beans, ground coffee, capsules or pads
The format you need is decided by your machine, not by taste.
Tchibo coffee beans
Beans are for bean-to-cup machines and espresso machines with a built-in grinder. Because they are only ground just before brewing, they hold on to more flavour than ground coffee. Tchibo beans come in 500 g and 1 kg packs.
Ground Tchibo coffee
Tchibo also makes ground filter coffee, in different strengths. It suits a traditional filter machine or a cafetière, and it is the practical choice if you do not have a grinder.
Tchibo capsules and pads
Tchibo capsules are made for Tchibo's own Cafissimo system. Tchibo coffee pads are suitable for Senseo machines and similar pad brewers. Both save you grinding and measuring, but they are not interchangeable, so check which system your machine uses before you order.
Choosing strength and flavour
Tchibo marks the intensity on each pack with a number or a description, so you can compare within the range. Feine Milde is the mildest choice. Caffè Crema is milder and creamier than the Espresso lines and is meant for a longer cup, while the Espresso blends and Barista Espresso are meant for a small, concentrated shot. If you drink your coffee with milk, a stronger blend holds its own better; black, many people prefer something milder.
Other brands and options
Tchibo has a recognisable profile rooted in German coffee tradition. To compare, have a look at other European coffee brands with a similar range, each with its own roasting style. And if you want coffee without any machine at all, our instant coffee is the quickest option.
