Details

Tchibo Barista Caffè Crema is a 1 kg bag of whole coffee beans for bean-to-cup machines. It is harmonious and aromatic, with subtle notes of red berries and a smooth, velvety crema.

Flavour and origin

This is a 100% Arabica blend. The beans are grown in Brazil and lightly blended with beans from other Latin American countries. The red-berry notes stay subtle, so the cup comes across as rounded and aromatic rather than fruity.

Made for your bean-to-cup machine

The beans suit a bean-to-cup (fully automatic) coffee machine, which grinds them fresh for every cup, and the bag is designed around refilling one.

Aroma Protect bag

On the right-hand side of the bag is a spout with a screw cap. Open it and pour the beans straight into your machine's bean hopper without scattering them over the worktop. Screw the cap back on and the bag is sealed airtight again, which helps keep the remaining beans fresh until the next refill.

FAQ
Customer Questions
Are the Tchibo Barista Caffè Crema beans suitable for a bean-to-cup machine?

Yes, these are whole coffee beans which, according to Tchibo, are intended for bean-to-cup machines, among other uses. You can also grind them yourself for an espresso machine or a filter coffee maker, but then you need a coffee grinder. Only fill the bean hopper with as much as you will use within a few days; that way the beans stay at their best.

Does the Tchibo Barista Caffè Crema contain arabica or robusta?

This blend consists of 100% arabica and is 100% fairtrade. The beans were grown in Brazil and blended with a small share of beans from other Latin American countries. In the cup, that gives a harmonious, aromatic coffee with subtle notes of red berries and a velvety layer of crema.

Do I get whole beans or ground coffee with the Tchibo Barista Caffè Crema 1 kilo?

You receive whole coffee beans in a 1 kilo bag. There is no ground version in this packaging. If you want to make filter coffee or espresso, grind the beans yourself to the grind size that suits your machine: filter grind for a pour-over filter and espresso grind for an espresso machine. Filter grind and percolator grind are not interchangeable.

How do I store the Tchibo Barista Caffè Crema beans after opening?

The bag has a pouring spout with a screw cap on the right-hand side, so you can top up the hopper of your coffee machine without spilling and then seal the bag airtight again. Store the bag cool, dry, dark and tightly closed. Do not put it in the fridge, because coffee absorbs moisture and odours there.

How many grams of Tchibo Barista Caffè Crema do I use per cup?

For a regular cup of filter coffee you allow about 5 to 8 grams of coffee and for a double espresso about 16 to 20 grams. On a bean-to-cup machine you usually set the strength with a button or a slider. If the coffee tastes too bitter, choose a coarser grind size or a shorter brew time. If it is too sour or too thin, grind finer or use a slightly higher dose.
