What the Eltek Aquastop does

A washing machine, a dishwasher or a plumbed-in coffee machine sits on a pressurised water line all day, whether it is running or not. The Eltek Aquastop goes into that line, between the tap and the appliance hose, and closes it when the water starts running the way it should not.

It is mechanical, so there is nothing to plug in, no batteries to check and nothing that stops working when the power does. The water passing through it is what drives the mechanism.

Setting the limit

A dial on the body sets the cut-off between 5 and 50 litres, so you can match it to what the appliance behind it actually draws. A plumbed-in coffee machine takes small amounts at a time and sits near the bottom of that range; a dishwasher or a washing machine gets through far more in one cycle and needs the dial set higher. If the flow then runs unusually high, the valve shuts and the water stops at the tap rather than at a split hose.

Fitting it

Both ends are 3/4 inch, the standard thread on household taps and appliance inlet hoses, so it screws in between the two by hand. Turn the tap off, unscrew the hose, fit the Aquastop in the middle and screw the hose back onto it.
