How it works in practice

Tip the hot beans straight from the roaster into the stainless steel tray and let it run. A load of 250 to 400 g is down to temperature in roughly a minute, depending on the bean and on how hot it came out; 500 g is the maximum the drum will take, though smaller batches cool more evenly. While it runs it also lifts out the chaff, the papery skins that loosen during roasting, so you are not sieving beans over the sink afterwards. The motor is quiet enough to stand next to.
