A clear view of the brew

The V60 owes its name to the 60 degree angle of its conical shape. In this version the cone is heat-resistant glass, held in a white plastic holder, and a measuring scoop is included. Glass keeps the heat in while the coffee draws through, so the flavour and aroma hold up from the first pour to the last drop, and it gives nothing back to the cup.

How the cone works

One large hole sits in the centre of the cone, and it is yours to steer. Pour faster or grind finer and you change how long the water stays with the coffee, and with it the strength and the character of the cup. The spiral ribs moulded into the inner wall give the coffee bed room to swell and let trapped air escape, instead of the filter sealing itself flat against the glass.

Size 02 and its filters

Size 02 is the larger of the two everyday V60 sizes and is suitable for 1 to 4 cups at a time: a single mug on a weekday morning, a full jug at the weekend. It takes paper V60 filters in size 02, which come in white (bleached) and brown (unbleached). Both fit; the difference is only in how the paper is treated. Filters in size 01 are too small for this cone.
