Heart of Grunn is the plain black tea in the Café du Jour range: a coarse-leaf blend with a generous share of young top leaves, and nothing else in the pack. No added aromas, no flavourings, no fruit or petals. Nothing about it is sharp or demanding, which is why it holds up from breakfast right through the day. Blended and packed in the Maasland countryside. 100 g of loose tea per pack.
Heart of Grunn black tea
Heart of Grunn is coarse leaf with plenty of young top leaves, and that is the whole recipe: black tea, with no added aromas or flavourings of any kind. Nothing is blended in to cover anything up, so what you taste is the leaf itself.
In the cup it is mild, and the sweet-spicy character sits underneath the tea rather than on top of it, which is why this one does not tire you out over a day of drinking it. It takes a splash of milk as happily as it goes on its own.
Brewing it
Use 2 to 3 g of leaf per cup, roughly a heaped teaspoon, in a tea filter, an infuser or a teapot with a strainer. Pour water of about 95°C over it and give it three to five minutes. Three minutes keeps the cup light; the full five draws out more of the spice. Coarse leaf needs room to open, so use a roomy infuser rather than packing it into a small ball.
