FAQ
Customer Questions
Where does the Pure Rooibos tea from Café du Jour come from?

This is a typical South African rooibos, recognisable by its needle-shaped leaf and its fresh, mild taste. The ingredients list consists of one ingredient: rooibos. So no flavourings, herbs or other types of tea have been added. We pack the tea ourselves at our tea packing facility in the Netherlands, in 100 gram bags. If you need exact label information, for example for a specific application, please contact our customer service.

Does Pure Rooibos tea contain caffeine or theine?

No, this Pure Rooibos is caffeine free. Rooibos does not come from the tea plant but from a South African shrub, which means it naturally contains no caffeine. The tea is also low in tannins, which keeps its taste mild. That makes it a pleasant choice for the evening or for anyone who prefers to avoid caffeine.

How do you brew Pure Rooibos and how long should it steep?

Use about 2 grams of loose rooibos per cup, roughly a level teaspoon, and pour boiling water over it. Let the tea steep for 5 to 7 minutes. Rooibos is low in tannins and therefore does not turn bitter quickly: if you leave it longer, you mainly get a fuller cup. Because this is loose tea, you need a tea strainer, tea filter or tea ball.

How many cups of tea do you make with 100 grams of Pure Rooibos?

At about 2 grams per cup, this 100 gram bag gives you around 50 cups of tea. If you like it a bit stronger, you will end up with slightly fewer. For a whole pot, count per cup that goes into it.

What is the best way to store loose rooibos tea?

Store the rooibos dry, dark and well sealed, for example in the original bag or in a tea tin in a closed cupboard. Loose tea easily picks up odours, so do not put it next to coffee, strong spices or cleaning products. That way the fresh, mild flavour is preserved the longest.
