Bergamot on a black tea base
Earl Grey means one thing: black tea carrying the scent of bergamot, the citrus whose peel gives the oil. The Dutch Special keeps to that and adds nothing else. The bergamot is noticeable as soon as you open the pack, and in the cup it reads as a clean citrus note over the tea rather than a perfumed one. It comes from natural bergamot, not from artificial flavouring.
How to brew it
Black tea wants water close to boiling, so pour it at around 95°C, straight after the kettle has come up. Use roughly 2 g of leaf, about a teaspoon, per cup, and give it three to five minutes in a strainer, an infuser or a pot with a filter. Being loose tea, the amount is yours to set: a little less leaf or a shorter steep for a lighter cup, the full five minutes if you want the tannin and the bergamot to come forward together.
