We get this question regularly. In almost every case it is not the pod itself, but the machine or the setting. If you use a single pod, place it in the 1-cup pod holder. In the 2-cup holder too much water runs through a single pod.

Also choose the smallest cup size on your Senseo. The more water that passes through the same pod, the weaker the coffee becomes. Lay the pod flat and in the middle of the holder and press the ground coffee down lightly, so the water does not run past the edge.

If the coffee stays weak, descale your machine. A machine with limescale lets the water run through too quickly, leaving the coffee too little time to release its flavour.

The best before date is printed on the packaging. As long as the bag is sealed, the pods stay good until that date. We advise storing them cool, dry and dark and not in the fridge, because coffee absorbs moisture and odours there.

Once you have opened the bag, reseal it properly and preferably use the pods within a few weeks. The coffee in a pod is ground and loses its aroma faster than whole beans.

A pack of Senseo Mocca Gourmet contains 48 coffee pods. They are standard round Senseo pods that fit the pod holders of your Senseo machine.

For a regular cup you use one pod in the 1-cup holder. If you want two cups at once or a larger mug, use the 2-cup holder with two pods. Brewing two cups from a single pod gives thin, watery coffee.

Senseo Mocca Gourmet is made from lightly roasted arabica beans. That gives a refined, complex coffee with a characterful taste and a lovely layer of crema.

Because the beans are lightly roasted, this pod is milder and less bitter than the dark roasted versions such as Senseo Extra Strong. If you find the cup too light in flavour, choose the smallest cup size on your machine. The cup then becomes more compact and more intense.
