Tea Cultures - Green Lemon - 25 tea bags

Green Lemon is the citrus green tea in the Tea Leaves Collection from Tea Cultures, number 10 in the series. The base is sencha, a Japanese green tea with a soft, clear taste, with lemongrass, lemon peel and lemon essence blended in.
How it tastes
The lemon peel and lemon essence give the cup a bright citrus note, and the lemongrass sits underneath with a herbal, faintly grassy layer. The sencha carries both without getting lost: green and calm, with no bitterness as long as the water is not boiling. Lighter than a black tea, which makes it an easy afternoon cup.
Brewing
- One tea bag per cup
- Water at 80 degrees, not boiling
- Steep for 2 to 3 minutes
Boiling water is what turns green tea bitter, so let the kettle stand for a few minutes after it boils, or use the tea setting if yours has one.
Over ice
Green Lemon makes good iced tea. Brew it a little stronger than usual, because the melting ice will thin it, let it cool and pour it over ice cubes. A slice of fresh lemon finishes it.
Organic and Fairtrade
Both certifications apply to this blend: the tea comes from organic cultivation and the growers are paid to the Fairtrade standard. Being green tea, it contains caffeine naturally.
