The AeroPress Clear coffee maker is the full-size AeroPress moulded in crystal-clear Tritan, so you can watch the brew as it happens. It uses the same three-stage method, rapid immersion followed by microfiltration and air pressure, to extract quickly: more body, less of the bitterness a long steep pulls out, and a paper microfilter that keeps grit out of the cup. Shatterproof, BPA-free, dishwasher safe and light enough to travel.

The AeroPress Clear coffee maker works the way every AeroPress does, but the chamber is moulded in crystal-clear Tritan instead of opaque plastic. You can watch the water level, the bloom and the colour of the brew as it happens, which makes it far easier to repeat a cup you liked. Tritan is shatterproof, so seeing through it costs you nothing in durability, and it is BPA-free.

How it brews

AeroPress calls it 3-in-1 Flavour Tech, and it is three things in sequence: rapid immersion, microfiltration and air pressure. Ground coffee steeps briefly in hot water, then you press the plunger and force the brew through a paper microfilter. Because the extraction is quick and under pressure rather than slow and passive, the cup carries more body and less of the bitterness a long steep draws out, and the filter holds back the fines, so nothing settles in the bottom of the cup.

That puts the result between the brewers you already know: fuller than a pour-over, cleaner than a cafetière because paper catches what a metal mesh lets past, and concentrated enough, on less water and a finer grind, to drink as an espresso-style shot.

More than the daily cup

The same press handles cold brew and iced coffee too, so it is not tied to one drink. Brewing and clearing up take under two minutes between them: you push the puck of spent grounds straight into the bin and rinse the chamber. It is dishwasher safe when you want a proper clean, and compact and light enough to go in a bag rather than live on the worktop.

Which grind do I use for the AeroPress Clear?

For the AeroPress Clear a grind that sits between filter grind and percolator works best. If you have your coffee ground by us, choose the grind setting AeroPress: that sits exactly between a filter grind and a percolator grind.

If the coffee runs through too quickly or tastes thin, grind a little finer. If it turns bitter or runs through too slowly, grind a little coarser.

Which filters fit the AeroPress Clear?

The AeroPress Clear works with the round AeroPress paper microfilters. They give you a cup of coffee without grounds and can be reordered separately in a pack of 350 pieces.

You use one filter per cup. Place it in the filter cap, rinse it briefly with hot water and then twist the cap onto the brewing chamber.

What makes the AeroPress Clear different from the other AeroPress models?

The AeroPress Clear is made of crystal-clear, break-resistant Tritan. That lets you see exactly what happens while brewing, which makes dosing and timing easier.

How much coffee can I brew with the AeroPress Clear?

The AeroPress Clear has a capacity of 10 oz and is therefore good for 1 to 2 cups at a time. Brewing and cleaning together take about two minutes.

The coffee maker is 5.25 inches high and 4.2 inches wide, so it is compact enough to take with you when travelling or to the office.

Can I also make cold brew or iced coffee with the AeroPress Clear?

Yes. Besides an espresso style preparation, the AeroPress Clear lends itself well to cold brew and iced coffee. The fast extraction with little bitterness works nicely for cold preparations.

For iced coffee you brew a concentrated cup and pour it straight over ice. For cold brew you let the coffee steep for longer before you press down the plunger.
