A Neapolitan-style espresso
Joerges Heritage Espresso sits at the dark end of the roasting range: a blend rich in robusta, roasted slowly and taken through a second crack. That is the roast Naples built its espresso on, and it is what you taste — weight and a thick, bitter-sweet intensity rather than brightness or acidity. On our scale it sits at 10 out of 13.
In the cup
The body is spicy and powerful, with nut and chocolate running underneath it. Straight espresso is what the blend was built for, but it holds up against milk just as well: in a cappuccino, a latte macchiato or a flat white the coffee still comes through instead of disappearing into the foam.
A kilo of whole beans
The bag holds one kilo of beans, unground, so it can go straight into the hopper of a bean-to-cup machine or onto the grinder standing next to an espresso machine. It is the same blend either way; how fine you grind it is what decides whether you are pulling a short, thick shot or a longer one.
