Brita - Water Filter Jug Aluna Black + 1 Maxtra PRO Filter Cartridge

What the Aluna does

The Brita Aluna in Cool Black filters tap water on its way through the jug. Water goes in through the filling lid at the top, passes down through a MAXTRA PRO cartridge and collects in the chamber below, ready to pour. The cartridge reduces limescale, chlorine, metals such as lead and copper, and traces of pesticides and medicines. You notice that most where water is the main ingredient, which is tea and coffee, and in a kettle that scales up more slowly.

Total capacity is 2.4 litres, of which 1.4 litres is filtered water. The jug is shaped to stand in a standard fridge door, so the filtered water can be kept cold rather than on the worktop, and the filling lid opens with one hand so you can top it up under the tap without putting anything down.

Smart Light and PerfectFit

A cartridge is good for around four weeks or 150 litres. Rather than leaving you to remember that, the jug carries the Brita Smart Light on the lid: green while the cartridge is fine, orange as it nears the end, red when it needs changing. The PerfectFit system seats each MAXTRA PRO cartridge squarely in the funnel, so unfiltered water cannot slip past the edge of the filter.

Day to day

A pouring lid keeps dust out between uses. The jug is dishwasher safe apart from the lid and the Smart Light, which are washed by hand. Refilling it also spares you the plastic of bottled water. One MAXTRA PRO cartridge comes in the box, so it works from the first fill.
