FAQ
Customer Questions
Is MrKoffieboon Espresso suitable for a bean to cup machine?

MrKoffieboon Espresso is supplied as whole beans, so you can use it in any bean to cup machine or coffee grinder. It is, however, a medium dark roasted espresso blend. If you have a machine whose manufacturer advises against using dark roasted, oily beans, such as some Jura and Melitta models, follow the manual and clean the grinder regularly. The ideal preparations for this blend are espresso, cappuccino and filter coffee.

Is MrKoffieboon Espresso arabica or robusta and where does the coffee come from?

MrKoffieboon Espresso is a blend of arabica and robusta. The robusta gives body, crema and spiciness, while the arabica provides the finer notes. The green coffee comes from Brazil and Vietnam and the beans are roasted in the Netherlands. The exact robusta percentage is not stated in the product details.

How strong does MrKoffieboon Espresso taste?

This espresso blend has intensity 9 on our scale and therefore counts as very powerful. In the taste you will recognise chocolatey, spicy and earthy notes, with an intense aroma and fresh citrus notes. It comes into its own as an espresso and as a lungo, and is bold enough to cut through the milk in a cappuccino.

Which grind do you use for MrKoffieboon Espresso?

This coffee is supplied as whole beans, so you grind it yourself to the grind size that suits your machine. For an espresso machine you grind fine, for a pour over filter or a Moccamaster you use a filter grind, and for a percolator a coarser percolator grind. Filter grind and percolator grind are not interchangeable. If the coffee tastes too bitter, grind a little coarser; if it is too sour, grind finer or use a higher dose.

How many cups of coffee do you get from 1 kilo of MrKoffieboon Espresso?

For a double espresso you count on 16 to 20 grams, so this 1 kilo bag gives you around 50 to 60 double espressos. If you brew filter coffee, you count on 5 to 8 grams per cup and get considerably further. Store the beans cool, dark and tightly closed, and not in the fridge.
