There is no popcorn in Popcorn Cherry Bliss. The nod comes from the puffed rice and the cornflower petals; the sweetness comes from candied cherries, red berries and white chocolate flakes scattered through a green tea base. Sweet and fruity in the cup with a creamy white-chocolate finish, and as good over ice as it is hot. Loose-leaf tea, 100 g. The white chocolate flakes contain milk.

Where the popcorn comes in

There is no popcorn in this blend. The name comes from the puffed rice and the cornflower petals scattered through it, which is also what gives the dry leaf its party look. What you taste is fruit and cream: candied cherries and red berries first, apple pieces and currants behind them, and white chocolate flakes melting into a soft finish. Underneath it all sits green tea, with blackcurrant leaves adding a darker berry note.

Green tea, so mind the water

Boiling water is the one thing that will spoil this. Green tea turns sharp at full heat and the cherry and white chocolate notes vanish behind the bitterness. Let the kettle stand a minute, so the water is around 70 to 80°C, use roughly two teaspoons per 200 ml and steep for two to three minutes. Give the leaves room while they do it: the fruit pieces swell a good deal, so a wide infuser or a filter bag works better than a tight ball.

Over ice

Brew it twice as strong, at the same water temperature, let it cool and pour it over ice with a wedge of lemon. The cherry and berry notes come forward when the tea is cold.
