Finest Jasmine is number 11 in the Tea Leaves Collection by Tea Cultures, and it is jasmine tea in its plainest form: Chinese green tea and jasmine blossom, with nothing else added. The blossom is laid in with the leaves so the tea takes on its scent, which is how jasmine tea has been made in China for centuries.

What it tastes like

Soft, fresh and clearly floral. The jasmine arrives first, as perfume in the steam as you pour, and the green tea sits underneath it: calm, gently grassy, with no sharp edge. Drink it on its own; it does not take milk.

Organic and Fairtrade

Both ingredients come from organic cultivation, and the tea carries Fairtrade certification, so the growers are paid a fair price for their harvest.

How to brew it

• Water at 80°C, not straight off the boil
• One tea bag per cup
• Steep for two to three minutes, then lift the bag out

Boiling water scalds green tea and draws out the tannins, and a bag left sitting in the cup does the same. That is where a bitter, drying cup usually comes from.
