Bai Mudan - White Tea 100 gram - Café du Jour loose Tea

The Bai Mudan white tea from Oothu (Southwest India) has a light liquor with a mild, sweetish flavour and gentle bitters. Most of our customers experience the taste as soft and pure, although this tea may contain slightly more bitterness compared to other white teas due to the minimalist processing and the high proportion of young leaf buds.

This Bai Mudan comes from Oothu in Southwest India and consists of large tea leaves with many young, unopened leaf buds. The plants are minimally and mainly hand-processed, which ensures an authentic and pure white tea flavour.

White tea naturally contains less caffeine than, for example, green or black tea. However, certain people may be sensitive to specific compounds in white tea. A few individuals have found our Bai Mudan tea to be somewhat bitter or slightly headache-inducing, but the majority of customers find it mild. If desired, try using fewer tea leaves or a shorter steeping time to soften the flavour and strength.

We recommend brewing this white tea with non-boiling water, around 80°C. Use approximately 2 grams of tea per cup, and let the leaves steep for 2-3 minutes for a delicate flavour, or longer if you prefer a slightly more intense tea. As these are large, hand-processed leaves, the flavours are best expressed with a gentle, mild preparation.
