JoeFrex tools for better espresso
Good espresso comes down to repeating the same steps every time: the same dose, the same amount in the cup, the same milk texture. These JoeFrex tools help with exactly those steps.
Precision scale
The JoeFrex espresso scale weighs from 0.1 to 800 g. Put it under the portafilter to check your dose, and under the cup to see how much espresso you pull. A common starting point is a ratio of 1 to 2: 18 g of ground coffee for about 36 g of espresso in 25 to 30 seconds. Change one thing at a time, and the scale shows you what made the difference.
Espresso glass with markings
The espresso glass has markings, so you can see how much coffee your machine delivers per shot. That is useful when you set up a new machine or grinder, or when you adjust the cup volume on a bean-to-cup machine.
Milk jug
The stainless steel milk jug is extra heavy duty and comes in three sizes. Choose by the drinks you make: fill the jug to just below the spout, because milk expands as you froth it. A small jug is enough for one cappuccino; for two drinks or a large latte, take a bigger size. Start with cold milk in a cold jug: you have more time to froth before the milk gets too hot, at around 60 to 65 °C, when the jug becomes too hot to hold comfortably.
Knock box
A knock box catches the spent coffee puck after each shot: tap the portafilter on the bar and the puck drops out. The JoeFrex Knock Box Beech Wood Classic comes in black and in brown.
Cupping spoon
Coffee tasters use a cupping spoon to compare coffees side by side. Coarse coffee steeps in a bowl, you break the crust after about four minutes and taste from the spoon. The JoeFrex cupping spoon is stainless steel.
Coffee bag clip
The black clip closes an opened coffee bag, so less air gets in between uses. Press the air out of the bag before you close it.
