How many pods are in a bag of Gala Regular and how many do I use per cup?

There are 56 pods in a bag. For an ordinary cup of coffee you use one pod in the 1-cup holder. If you want two cups at once, or one large mug, use two pods in the 2-cup holder.

Making two cups at a time, a bag will therefore last you 28 rounds. If you drink a couple of cups a day at home, that works out at roughly two to four weeks.

Why does the coffee from my Gala Dark Roast pods taste weak or watery?

In almost every case the pod is not the problem: it is the machine or the setting. If you are using one pod, place it in the 1-cup pod holder. In the 2-cup holder, too much water passes through a single pod.

Also select the smallest cup size. The more water that goes through the same pod, the thinner the coffee becomes. Lay the pod flat in the centre of the holder and press the coffee down lightly, so the water cannot run around the edge.

If the coffee still tastes weak, descale your machine. A machine full of limescale lets the water run through too quickly, so the coffee has too little time to release its flavour.

How long will 108 Mega Crema pods last me?

For an ordinary cup of coffee you use one pod in the 1-cup holder. For two cups at once, or one large mug, use two pods in the 2-cup holder.

If you drink two cups a day at home, 108 pods will last you nearly two months. At three cups a day you are looking at around five weeks. For an office or meeting room where the machine runs all day, this size is mainly intended as a bulk pack.

Which modes does the Cube Mini 3.0 Pro have and when do I use each one?

In espresso mode you weigh your dose into the portafilter and then your shot into the cup, with the time and flow rate on screen so you can steer towards the ratio you want. Pour-over mode is all about the total water weight and an even pour, with the timer running from the first drop.

Manual mode is there for everything else: weighing out beans, filling a cafetière or simply weighing something in the kitchen. The scale starts automatically and tares itself as soon as you put weight on it, and thanks to the memory function it will still be in the mode you last chose the following morning.

Which brewing method is the Sumatra coffee suitable for?

We think this Sumatra is at its best as slow coffee from the Chemex, the French press or the filter. You can also use it for espresso and cappuccino, although it then becomes a little bolder and the acidity comes out more. Make sure you use the right grind for your machine: whole beans for a bean to cup machine, filter grind for a pour over filter and espresso grind for an espresso machine. Filter grind and espresso grind are not interchangeable.

Should I choose the 600 ml Hario Mizudashi or the 1000 ml one?

The 600 ml version is meant for one to two people or for anyone who drinks cold brew now and then. If several people in the house drink cold brew every day, the 1000 ml Mizudashi is more practical.

Both sizes work in exactly the same way and have the same built-in mesh filter. The 600 ml also fits upright in most fridge doors.

How often should I replace this Jura water filter?

The cartridge filters about 50 litres of water. That is the equivalent of around 400 cups of coffee or 1000 cups of espresso.

We recommend replacing the filter every 2 months in any case, even if you have not yet reached those 50 litres. If your machine asks for a new filter sooner, follow that message and your machine's manual.

What is the difference between Vanille, Rich Spice and East Indian Spice chai latte?

Vanille is the mildest of the three: creamy, with a hint of vanilla over a base of black and green tea. A nice start if you do not know chai well yet.

Rich Spice has more body and tastes spicier and warmer. East Indian Spice is the most pronounced variant, with black tea and Indian spices including cinnamon, cloves and cardamom, and a full, creamy chai flavour.

Does Marzipan Rose tea contain caffeine?

Yes. Marzipan Rose is a black tea and black tea naturally contains caffeine. Theine and caffeine are the same substance, just under a different name.

If you are looking for something without caffeine for the evening, take a look at a rooibos or a herbal infusion.

How much ground illy coffee do I use per cup?

For a double espresso, count on around 16 to 20 grams of ground coffee. If you are making filter coffee, 5 to 8 grams per cup is a good starting point. If your cup tastes too bitter, let it run through for a shorter time or use a slightly lower dose; if it is too sour, use a higher dose and hotter water. With 2 x 250 grams you get around 25 to 30 double espressos.

Can you also make iced tea with Green Lemon tea?

Yes, this fresh citrus blend is well suited to that. Brew the tea as usual, let it cool and then pour it over ice cubes. A slice of fresh lemon finishes it off.

If you want a fuller flavour in the glass, brew the tea a little stronger than normal. The melting ice dilutes the tea, after all.

Can I also drink Gember Cool cold as iced tea?

Yes, this blend tastes good hot and cold. We recommend brewing it twice as strong as normal, then letting it cool and serving it with ice cubes. The peppermint and lemongrass really come into their own when cold, especially with a slice of lemon. You can also let Gember Cool steep cold: 4 to 12 hours in the fridge, depending on how strong you want it.

What does L'OR Riche Espresso taste like?

Riche Espresso is a powerful, dark roasted espresso blend with intensity 8. You taste deep notes of dark chocolate and caramel, with a hint of macadamia. It comes into its own as espresso and ristretto, and thanks to the full flavour also in cappuccino and latte macchiato. For a double espresso, allow around 16 to 20 grams of ground coffee.

At what temperature do you brew Almond Coconut Oolong?

We recommend water of around 80 degrees and a steeping time of 2 to 3 minutes. Boiling water quickly turns green tea and oolong bitter, so let your kettle cool down for a moment before you pour. Use about 2 grams of loose tea per cup. If you find the result too weak, extend the steeping time by half a minute instead of using hotter water.

How do I brew Detox Herbs herbal tea?

We recommend about 2 grams of loose leaf tea per cup, roughly a level teaspoon. A herbal blend with roots, seeds and spices like this one can be brewed with boiling water and needs time to release its flavour. Let the tea steep for 5 to 8 minutes; a longer steeping time makes it fuller and spicier, and it does not turn bitter easily.
