Brewing coffee to a recipe means watching two numbers at once: how much water has gone in, and how long it has been going in for. The Hario V60 Precision Scale puts both on the same display. Start the timer as you start pouring and you can see the grams climb against the seconds, which is what lets you pour to a schedule instead of guessing, and lets you repeat a brew you liked instead of stumbling on it again.

It reads down to 0.1 of a gram. That extra decimal earns its keep on the coffee rather than the water: half a gram either way in an espresso dose is enough to shift the shot, so it is worth weighing the dose into the portafilter as carefully as you weigh the water into the brewer.
