This is Kimbo's gentler side in one go: three 100% Arabica blends that sit close together in character — low bitterness, fruity and aromatic, with a velvety crema — but each with its own accent. With a full kilo of each you can live with a blend for a few weeks and decide which one becomes the house coffee, instead of guessing from a single cup.

How they drink

An Arabica-only blend gives you less bite and more detail than one cut with Robusta, and that is what these three are about: differences in fruit, sweetness and body rather than a hit of bitterness. Taste them in that order — Barista, Top Flavour, Gran Gourmet — keeping your grind and dose the same, and the accents are easy enough to pick apart side by side. If most of your coffee ends up in a cappuccino, start with Gran Gourmet.

Are the beans from the Kimbo pack Mild and Aromatic suitable for a bean to cup machine such as a Jura?

Yes. This pack is made up of mild, low-bitterness roasted Arabica blends, and those are clearly less oily than dark-roasted espresso beans. That is exactly why we recommend this profile to customers with a Jura or a comparable bean to cup machine.

A customer asked us earlier whether the Kimbo Espresso Bar Top Flavour 100% Arabica from this pack would be too oily, because the beans look shiny. Our answer at the time: these beans are not extremely oily like some dark roasts, so with normal maintenance of your machine you can use them without any problem.

Which coffees are in the Kimbo tasting pack Mild and Aromatic?

You get three Kimbo blends of 1 kilo of coffee beans each: Espresso Barista 100% Arabica, Espresso Bar Top Flavour 100% Arabica and Gran Gourmet.

The Espresso Barista is elegant and balanced with hints of caramel and floral notes. The Espresso Bar Top Flavour is full, aromatic and smooth. The Gran Gourmet is round and creamy and goes down easily both black and with milk.

What does 100% Arabica mean for the taste of this Kimbo tasting pack?

This pack is all about Kimbo's mild Arabica profile. For the Espresso Barista and the Espresso Bar Top Flavour, 100% Arabica is even stated explicitly in the product name.

Arabica without robusta generally gives a smoother, less bitter cup with more room for fruity and floral nuances. The crema is therefore a little finer and more velvety than in blends that contain robusta.

Do I get whole beans or ground coffee in the Kimbo tasting pack Mild and Aromatic?

You get whole coffee beans, 3 x 1 kilo. The pack is intended for espresso machines and bean to cup machines with a built-in grinder.

If your machine works with ground coffee, you will need a coffee grinder. Grind to espresso grind for an espresso machine. That is a finer grind than the filter grind a pour-over filter needs.

Can I choose the three Kimbo blends in this tasting pack myself?

No, this is a fixed bundle with three predetermined blends. Swapping or exchanging within the pack is not possible.

If you would like one of the three in a larger quantity, order that blend separately. The Espresso Barista, the Espresso Bar Top Flavour and the Gran Gourmet are also available separately by the kilo in our shop.
