Der Himmlische is Mövenpick's 100% Arabica blend, and this is the 1 kg bag of whole coffee beans. The Arabica comes from Brazil, Colombia and Ethiopia, and the coffee is roasted and produced in Germany.
How it tastes
The roast is a medium one, taken slowly, and that is what keeps the chocolate and caramel in the cup rather than burning the aroma off. It is rounded rather than punchy: 7 out of 13 on the Café du Jour scale, and Mövenpick intensity 3 of 5 on the maker's own. The Brazilian and Colombian beans carry the body and the sweetness; the Ethiopian Arabica lifts the aroma.
How to use it
These are whole beans, for a grinder or a bean-to-cup machine, and the blend is meant to cover espresso, filter coffee and cappuccino from the same bag. Chocolate and caramel are heavy enough notes to stay visible under steamed milk, which is why it works as well in a cappuccino as it does on its own.
