A chai that leads with orange
Most chai blends run a long list of spices. This one keeps two, cardamom and ginger, and lets sweet orange do the rest. It is warm and aromatic in the chai manner but noticeably fruitier: creamy sweet orange first, cardamom aromatic behind it, then a mild warming heat from the ginger on the finish. There are real pieces of ginger in the pack alongside sugared ginger sticks, and that is where the rounded body comes from.
The base
It is built on rooibos tea rather than black tea. Rooibos carries no caffeine of its own, and it is far less tannic than a black-tea chai, which leaves the orange and the cardamom more room than they would otherwise get.
In the pot
Rooibos and whole spices both want heat and time: water at 95 to 100°C, a heaped teaspoon of around 2 g per cup, and five to seven minutes in the pot. Being loose tea, none of that is fixed. Drink it plain and the orange stays sharpest; add a dash of milk, frothed if you like, and it goes properly chai, with the ginger and the cardamom coming forward.
