Simply Hemp from Dutch Harvest is a loose tea made from hemp leaf and hemp flower, with nothing else added. It brews a mild, lightly sweet cup with a greenish-yellow colour and a finish that is livelier than the first sip suggests. The hemp is fibre hemp grown in Oude Pekela in Groningen. It contains CBD but no THC, so it has no psychoactive effect.

Simply Hemp is the plain hemp tea in the Dutch Harvest range: just hemp leaf and hemp flower, sold loose in a 40 g pack. There are no other herbs or flavourings in the mix, so what you taste is the hemp itself.

What it tastes like

The cup is mild and lightly sweet, with a clear greenish-yellow colour. The aftertaste is where it surprises: it lingers and has more life in it than the gentle start would lead you to expect.

How to brew it

As a loose-leaf tea, it works in a teapot, an infuser or a tea filter.

  • 1 teaspoon per cup, or 2 tablespoons per litre of water
  • Pour over boiling water
  • Steep for 5 to 7 minutes

THC, CBD and where it is grown

Dutch Harvest grows its hemp in Oude Pekela, in the Dutch province of Groningen. It uses fibre hemp and states that the tea contains no THC, so it has no psychoactive effect. It does contain CBD (cannabidiol), which is not psychoactive either: this tea will not get you high.

Is Simply Hemp a pure hemp tea or a herbal blend?

Simply Hemp is pure hemp tea. The bag contains 100 percent hemp leaf and hemp flower, with no added herbs, flavourings or tea leaves.

If you would rather have a blend, take a look at the other Dutch Harvest teas such as Hemp and Herbs, Hemp Chai or Hemp and Turmeric. In those the hemp is combined with herbs and spices.

Does Simply Hemp hemp tea contain THC and can it get you high?

No. Simply Hemp is made from fibre hemp, which contains no THC, the substance with a psychoactive effect. So this tea cannot get you stoned or high.

The tea does contain CBD (cannabidiol). CBD works differently from THC and has no psychoactive effect.

How much CBD is in Simply Hemp hemp tea?

Dutch Harvest does not state a CBD content per bag or per cup, so we cannot put a figure on it. What is certain is that the tea contains CBD and no THC.

Can you drink Simply Hemp hemp tea cold as an iced tea?

You can. Brew the tea as usual with boiling water and let it steep for 5 to 7 minutes. Then strain the tea and let it cool down in the fridge.

If you pour it over ice cubes, brew it a little stronger than normal. That way the flavour does not get watered down when the ice melts.

How do you brew Simply Hemp hemp tea and how many cups do you get from 40 grams?

Use 1 teaspoon per cup or 2 tablespoons per litre of water. Pour boiling water over it and let the tea steep for 5 to 7 minutes.

The 40 gram bag gives you around 40 cups of tea. Because it is loose-leaf tea, you need a tea strainer, a tea filter or a teapot with a filter.

Keep the bag tightly closed in a dry, dark place.

Where does the hemp in Simply Hemp come from and is the tea organic?

The hemp for this tea is grown 100 percent organically in Oude Pekela in Groningen.

It is fibre hemp, the same crop that is also used for rope and textiles. That variety contains no THC.
